WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. — The Arab American Political Action Committee (AAPAC), a nonpartisan organization focused on advancing the interests and civic engagement of Arab Americans across Michigan, today announced its official endorsement of the Wayne County Public Transportation Millage that will appear on the Tuesday, Aug. 4, ballot:
“Our community understands the importance of opportunity and access,” said Osama Siblani, president of AAPAC. “Too many residents face barriers to employment, education and essential services simply because transportation options are limited. Wayne County Transit for All represents an investment in people – creating stronger connections between neighborhoods workplaces and community resources. AAPAC is proud to endorse this initiative because we believe every resident deserves the freedom and opportunity that reliable transportation provides.”
The Wayne County Public Transportation Millage would renew and expand public transit across the entire county if passed, providing more affordable transportation options for about 350,000 Wayne County residents who have little to no options to get around if they can’t drive. This millage would also expand DDOT bus service, connecting Detroit residents to more jobs and
schools in the suburbs.
