WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. — Today, Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed announced his official endorsement of the Wayne County Public Transportation Millage that will appear on the Tuesday, Aug. 4, ballot:
“Folks need to be able to get around, to connect,” El-Sayed said. “That’s what makes a community a community. Public transit allows seniors to stay independent, gives workers access to jobs, and makes it easier for students and families to get the resources they need. Wayne County’s millage will be a lifeline for so many working people here and I’m proud to support this critical ballot initiative.”
The Wayne County Public Transportation Millage would renew and expand public transit across the entire county if passed, providing more affordable transportation options for about 350,000 Wayne County residents who have little to no options to get around if they can’t drive. This millage would also expand DDOT bus service, connecting Detroit residents to more jobs and schools in the suburbs.
